In the NuroWorld, MidTown NuroCity primarily consists of the Temporal Lobes & Occipital Lobes of the Brain. Situated between the upper lobes of the brain (UpTown) & the lower structures of the brain (DownTown) MidTown is, as it suggests, the structures seen in the middle of the brain's outer map.
The temporal lobes are important for processing auditory information and with the encoding of memory. The temporal lobes are also believed to play an important role in processing affect/emotions, language, and certain aspects of visual perception.
The primary purpose of the occipital lobe is to process visual information. It receives input from the eyes, maps visual information, and interprets it to help with spatial reasoning, color perception, and object recognition. The primary occipital lobe is surrounded by the secondary occipital lobe.
The primary visual cortex in the occipital lobe receives initial visual information from the retina via the thalamus. Primary focuses on basic visual features like edges & lines. Secondary occipital lobe contributes to more complex processes like object recognition, color & depth perception.
